The work "Linajes y Blasones de Galicia", by Father Crespo, where the heraldry and the history of the family name Cardecid appears, is the most important treatise of the heraldry of Galicia (Spain), and was published three hundred years after the appearance of the posthumous "Nobiliario, Armas y Triunfos de Galicia", by Father Felipe de la Gandara. Its author Father Crespo Pozo, had for his investigations, vigils and costly walks that were rewarded with the kind collaboration of Nobles as the Dukes of Medinaceli facilitating the archive of the Grand Casa Marquesal de Camarasa, etc. All this resulted in a plurality of sources of consultation that make the scholarly work, encyclopedic and illustrative in Galician heraldry. This work collects, as we have already said, the history and heraldry of family Cardecid so the Cardecid or they are Galician or linked in some of their branches to Galicia.

One of the most distinctive qualities of heraldry is the use of a limited palette of colours and patterns, usually referred to as tinctures. These are divided into three categories, known as metals, colours, and furs.

Next we are going to see the meanings of three tinctures:

1) ARGENT (Silver): Purity, Integrity, Obedience, Firmness, Surveillance, Eloquence and Expiration.

2) AZURE: Blue color that symbolizes Justice, Zeal, Truth, Loyalty, Charity and Beauty.

3) SABLE: Black color that symbolizes Prudence, Sadness, Rigor, Honesty and Obedience.

Next lets look at the characteristics of some figures that we can find in heraldry and crests:

* PEACOCK: The Peacock, by its head denotes Prudence; for his chest, of gold and sapphire, Loyalty, Fidelity and Zeal; in the hidden and submissive of his steps, Secret, and in the terribly out of tune voice of his singing, Terror of enemies.

* MULBERRY: The Mulberry symbolizes Prudence and Wisdom.

* PALM: The Palm Tree symbolizes Victory and Triumph.

* FUSIL: The Fusil is a symbol of Righteousness, Prudence and Equity and of the conveniences achieved through these virtues; it serves as a hieroglyph for those who gathered many goods using lawful and upright means.

* PINE: The Pine, due to its elevation, is a symbol of Noble and enlightened Thoughts and due to its resinous nature, suitable for burning, of a Fiery Heart in avenging family outrages.

* ANCHOR: The Anchor is a symbol of Hope, it also means security and constancy, even in the greatest setbacks of fortune.

* ANJOU: The Chief of Anjou, belonging to Italian heraldry, represents a political alliance with the Welf party (derived from Welf, Duke of Bavaria) who were loyal to the Pope.

* APPLE: The Apple Tree symbolizes the Watchful Heart.
