The work "Linajes y Blasones de Galicia", by Father Crespo, where the heraldry and the history of the family name Doural appears, is the most important treatise of the heraldry of Galicia (Spain), and was published three hundred years after the appearance of the posthumous "Nobiliario, Armas y Triunfos de Galicia", by Father Felipe de la Gandara. Its author Father Crespo Pozo, had for his investigations, vigils and costly walks that were rewarded with the kind collaboration of Nobles as the Dukes of Medinaceli facilitating the archive of the Grand Casa Marquesal de Camarasa, etc. All this resulted in a plurality of sources of consultation that make the scholarly work, encyclopedic and illustrative in Galician heraldry. This work collects, as we have already said, the history and heraldry of family Doural so the Doural or they are Galician or linked in some of their branches to Galicia.

One of the most distinctive qualities of heraldry is the use of a limited palette of colours and patterns, usually referred to as tinctures. These are divided into three categories, known as metals, colours, and furs.

Next we are going to see the meanings of three tinctures:

1) GULES: Red color that symbolizes Strength, Victory, Daring and Highness.

2) SABLE: Black color that symbolizes Prudence, Sadness, Rigor, Honesty and Obedience.

3) PURPLE: Justice, Wit, Truth, Greatness, Wisdom and Love; those who wear this color are obliged to defend the Prince defending ecclesiastical people.

Next lets look at the characteristics of some figures that we can find in heraldry and crests:

* AXE: The Axe symbolizes Death caused to the enemy, and also an ax or wick to illuminate.

* RIVER: The River symbolizes, due to its condition of increasing its flow as it advances, the Knight who leaves his house with a desire to advance and returns to it enriched with Erudition and Fortune.

* CROWN: The Crown is a symbol of Royal or Seigniorial Authority and Dignity or Honorary Badge.

* ANGIO: The Chief of Angio, belonging to Italian heraldry, represents a political alliance with the Welf party (derived from Welf, Duke of Bavaria) who were loyal to the Pope.

* BULL: The Bull symbolizes Generous Chest, in whom the memories of his lineage, represented in the red of his blood, inflame the desire for great enterprises.

* FUSIL: The Fusil is a symbol of Righteousness, Prudence and Equity and of the conveniences achieved through these virtues; it serves as a hieroglyph for those who gathered many goods using lawful and upright means.

* DRAGANTE: Los Dragantes simbolizan el Cuidado y Vigilancia más exquisitos.
