The work "Linajes y Blasones de Galicia", by Father Crespo, where the heraldry and the history of the family name Layseca appears, is the most important treatise of the heraldry of Galicia (Spain), and was published three hundred years after the appearance of the posthumous "Nobiliario, Armas y Triunfos de Galicia", by Father Felipe de la Gandara. Its author Father Crespo Pozo, had for his investigations, vigils and costly walks that were rewarded with the kind collaboration of Nobles as the Dukes of Medinaceli facilitating the archive of the Grand Casa Marquesal de Camarasa, etc. All this resulted in a plurality of sources of consultation that make the scholarly work, encyclopedic and illustrative in Galician heraldry. This work collects, as we have already said, the history and heraldry of family Layseca so the Layseca or they are Galician or linked in some of their branches to Galicia.

One of the most distinctive qualities of heraldry is the use of a limited palette of colours and patterns, usually referred to as tinctures. These are divided into three categories, known as metals, colours, and furs.

Next we are going to see the meanings of three tinctures:

1) OR (Gold): Nobility, Magnanimity, Wealth, Power, Light, Constancy and Wisdom.

2) ARGENT (Silver): Purity, Integrity, Obedience, Firmness, Surveillance, Eloquence and Expiration.

3) GULES: Red color that symbolizes Strength, Victory, Daring and Highness.

Next lets look at the characteristics of some figures that we can find in heraldry and crests:

* CRESCENT: The Crescent, of oriental origin, symbolizes Victory against the darkness of slander, and Emulations against inconstancy and fickleness.

* PARROT: The Parrot is a symbol of a Noble Knight, who looks with pleasure at the enamels on his shield, with the intention of not only preserving them, but adding new stamps with his own deeds and is also a symbol of Eloquence and Docility.

* KEY: The Keys symbolize Fidelity and Secrecy.

* LIZARD: The Lizard is a symbol of Fidelity and Hobby, for which it shows the man.

* CRANE: The Crane is a symbol of a well-ordered Government under the power of a good boss, who distributes surveillance in turns; it also symbolizes Prudence in the art of governing peoples well.

* BEZANT: The Bezants, due to its oriental significance, was adopted by most of the Knights who took part in the expedition to the Holy Land.

* ARROW: The Fess represents Readiness (for battle); if depicted with a cross, represents an affliction.

* PINE: The Pine, due to its elevation, is a symbol of Noble and enlightened Thoughts and due to its resinous nature, suitable for burning, of a Fiery Heart in avenging family outrages.
