The work "Linajes y Blasones de Galicia", by Father Crespo, where the heraldry and the history of the family name Nonques appears, is the most important treatise of the heraldry of Galicia (Spain), and was published three hundred years after the appearance of the posthumous "Nobiliario, Armas y Triunfos de Galicia", by Father Felipe de la Gandara. Its author Father Crespo Pozo, had for his investigations, vigils and costly walks that were rewarded with the kind collaboration of Nobles as the Dukes of Medinaceli facilitating the archive of the Grand Casa Marquesal de Camarasa, etc. All this resulted in a plurality of sources of consultation that make the scholarly work, encyclopedic and illustrative in Galician heraldry. This work collects, as we have already said, the history and heraldry of family Nonques so the Nonques or they are Galician or linked in some of their branches to Galicia.

One of the most distinctive qualities of heraldry is the use of a limited palette of colours and patterns, usually referred to as tinctures. These are divided into three categories, known as metals, colours, and furs.

Next we are going to see the meanings of three tinctures:

1) PURPLE: Justice, Wit, Truth, Greatness, Wisdom and Love; those who wear this color are obliged to defend the Prince defending ecclesiastical people.

2) OR (Gold): Nobility, Magnanimity, Wealth, Power, Light, Constancy and Wisdom.

3) SABLE: Black color that symbolizes Prudence, Sadness, Rigor, Honesty and Obedience.

Next lets look at the characteristics of some figures that we can find in heraldry and crests:

* bandaNOusar: La Banda es símbolo del tahalí, con que los Caballeros sujetaban su espada y también de la banda de color que usaban sobre su armadura los Generales y Capitanes.

* CRANE: The Crane is a symbol of a well-ordered Government under the power of a good boss, who distributes surveillance in turns; it also symbolizes Prudence in the art of governing peoples well.

* WHEEL: The Wheels symbolize Speed in carrying out the most arduous undertakings. They are also a symbol of Fortune, Favor and Inconstancy.

* PINE: The Pine, due to its elevation, is a symbol of Noble and enlightened Thoughts and due to its resinous nature, suitable for burning, of a Fiery Heart in avenging family outrages.

* KNIGHT: The Knight symbolizes the Nobility.

* WATER: The Water is a symbol of Enlightened Wisdom, of Virtuous Mood, and can also symbolize domain extension.

* SPARROWHAWK: The Sparrowhawk is a symbol of Cunning.

* RIVER: The River symbolizes, due to its condition of increasing its flow as it advances, the Knight who leaves his house with a desire to advance and returns to it enriched with Erudition and Fortune.
