The work "Linajes y Blasones de Galicia", by Father Crespo, where the heraldry and the history of the family name Narla appears, is the most important treatise of the heraldry of Galicia (Spain), and was published three hundred years after the appearance of the posthumous "Nobiliario, Armas y Triunfos de Galicia", by Father Felipe de la Gandara. Its author Father Crespo Pozo, had for his investigations, vigils and costly walks that were rewarded with the kind collaboration of Nobles as the Dukes of Medinaceli facilitating the archive of the Grand Casa Marquesal de Camarasa, etc. All this resulted in a plurality of sources of consultation that make the scholarly work, encyclopedic and illustrative in Galician heraldry. This work collects, as we have already said, the history and heraldry of family Narla so the Narla or they are Galician or linked in some of their branches to Galicia.

One of the most distinctive qualities of heraldry is the use of a limited palette of colours and patterns, usually referred to as tinctures. These are divided into three categories, known as metals, colours, and furs.

Next we are going to see the meanings of three tinctures:

1) OR (Gold): Nobility, Magnanimity, Wealth, Power, Light, Constancy and Wisdom.

2) ARGENT (Silver): Purity, Integrity, Obedience, Firmness, Surveillance, Eloquence and Expiration.

3) SABLE: Black color that symbolizes Prudence, Sadness, Rigor, Honesty and Obedience.

Next lets look at the characteristics of some figures that we can find in heraldry and crests:

* GYRON: The Gyron represents Favor.

* COCK: The Cock is a symbol of Vigilance and Tenacity in the fight.

* PEACOCK: The Peacock, by its head denotes Prudence; for his chest, of gold and sapphire, Loyalty, Fidelity and Zeal; in the hidden and submissive of his steps, Secret, and in the terribly out of tune voice of his singing, Terror of enemies.

* SPARROWHAWK: The Sparrowhawk is a symbol of Cunning.

* FLEUR-DE-LIS: The Fleur-de-lis represents the Generous Courage that, for received grievances, repeatedly returns benefits, and is a symbol of French heraldry.

* PELICAN: The Pelican is a symbol of the Charitable and Pious Lord towards his vassals.
