The work "Linajes y Blasones de Galicia", by Father Crespo, where the heraldry and the history of the family name Oxea appears, is the most important treatise of the heraldry of Galicia (Spain), and was published three hundred years after the appearance of the posthumous "Nobiliario, Armas y Triunfos de Galicia", by Father Felipe de la Gandara. Its author Father Crespo Pozo, had for his investigations, vigils and costly walks that were rewarded with the kind collaboration of Nobles as the Dukes of Medinaceli facilitating the archive of the Grand Casa Marquesal de Camarasa, etc. All this resulted in a plurality of sources of consultation that make the scholarly work, encyclopedic and illustrative in Galician heraldry. This work collects, as we have already said, the history and heraldry of family Oxea so the Oxea or they are Galician or linked in some of their branches to Galicia.

One of the most distinctive qualities of heraldry is the use of a limited palette of colours and patterns, usually referred to as tinctures. These are divided into three categories, known as metals, colours, and furs.

Next we are going to see the meanings of three tinctures:

1) PURPLE: Justice, Wit, Truth, Greatness, Wisdom and Love; those who wear this color are obliged to defend the Prince defending ecclesiastical people.

2) ARGENT (Silver): Purity, Integrity, Obedience, Firmness, Surveillance, Eloquence and Expiration.

3) SABLE: Black color that symbolizes Prudence, Sadness, Rigor, Honesty and Obedience.

Next lets look at the characteristics of some figures that we can find in heraldry and crests:

* OLIVE: The Olive Tree is a symbol of Peace, due to the perennial green of its leaves, it also means Immutable Courage against adverse fortune.

* ARROW: The Fess represents Readiness (for battle); if depicted with a cross, represents an affliction.

* BOAR: The Boar symbolizes Dauntless and Boldness.

* PEACOCK: The Peacock, by its head denotes Prudence; for his chest, of gold and sapphire, Loyalty, Fidelity and Zeal; in the hidden and submissive of his steps, Secret, and in the terribly out of tune voice of his singing, Terror of enemies.

* PARROT: The Parrot is a symbol of a Noble Knight, who looks with pleasure at the enamels on his shield, with the intention of not only preserving them, but adding new stamps with his own deeds and is also a symbol of Eloquence and Docility.

* CASTLE: The Castle, due to the superiority of its strength over other buildings, denotes Greatness and Power, used to defend friends and allies, resisting the enemy invincibly.

* WOLF: The Wolf is a symbol of a Constant Heart that suffers the calamities of war and siege with generous spirit; but when the time comes to fight in the open field, he fiercely fights, without giving his enemy a barracks.

* DRAGON: The Dragon symbolizes the most exquisite Care and Vigilance.
