The work "Linajes y Blasones de Galicia", by Father Crespo, where the heraldry and the history of the family name Refuxo appears, is the most important treatise of the heraldry of Galicia (Spain), and was published three hundred years after the appearance of the posthumous "Nobiliario, Armas y Triunfos de Galicia", by Father Felipe de la Gandara. Its author Father Crespo Pozo, had for his investigations, vigils and costly walks that were rewarded with the kind collaboration of Nobles as the Dukes of Medinaceli facilitating the archive of the Grand Casa Marquesal de Camarasa, etc. All this resulted in a plurality of sources of consultation that make the scholarly work, encyclopedic and illustrative in Galician heraldry. This work collects, as we have already said, the history and heraldry of family Refuxo so the Refuxo or they are Galician or linked in some of their branches to Galicia.

One of the most distinctive qualities of heraldry is the use of a limited palette of colours and patterns, usually referred to as tinctures. These are divided into three categories, known as metals, colours, and furs.

Next we are going to see the meanings of three tinctures:

1) PURPLE: Justice, Wit, Truth, Greatness, Wisdom and Love; those who wear this color are obliged to defend the Prince defending ecclesiastical people.

2) ARGENT (Silver): Purity, Integrity, Obedience, Firmness, Surveillance, Eloquence and Expiration.

3) AZURE: Blue color that symbolizes Justice, Zeal, Truth, Loyalty, Charity and Beauty.

Next lets look at the characteristics of some figures that we can find in heraldry and crests:

* STAR: The Stars symbolize Constancy in the service to the Sovereign in the jobs of Minister or Counselor.

* PEACOCK: The Peacock, by its head denotes Prudence; for his chest, of gold and sapphire, Loyalty, Fidelity and Zeal; in the hidden and submissive of his steps, Secret, and in the terribly out of tune voice of his singing, Terror of enemies.

* SWAN: The Swan, by the tradition that he sings sweetly when he is about to die, means Ancient Nobility, without stain of any kind, who dies courageously executing glorious undertakings.

* THISTLE: The Thistle symbolizes in Heraldry a heart nobly humble, but so careful of its honor, that it defends with its sword the luster of its lineage.

* ERMINE: The Ermines symbolize Purity and Fidelity placed at the service of the Prince.

* TIGER: The Tiger represents Fierceness and Valour; Resentment; Dangerous if aroused.

* SUN: The Sun is a symbol of Sovereigns and Kings, those who with their power vivify the entire State; It is an emblem of Eternity, Greatness, Power, Providence, Illustrious Nobility and Magnificence.

* GRIFFIN: The Griffin, half eagle and half lion, is an emblem of Ingenuity and Greatness.
