The work "Linajes y Blasones de Galicia", by Father Crespo, where the heraldry and the history of the family name Ruybal appears, is the most important treatise of the heraldry of Galicia (Spain), and was published three hundred years after the appearance of the posthumous "Nobiliario, Armas y Triunfos de Galicia", by Father Felipe de la Gandara. Its author Father Crespo Pozo, had for his investigations, vigils and costly walks that were rewarded with the kind collaboration of Nobles as the Dukes of Medinaceli facilitating the archive of the Grand Casa Marquesal de Camarasa, etc. All this resulted in a plurality of sources of consultation that make the scholarly work, encyclopedic and illustrative in Galician heraldry. This work collects, as we have already said, the history and heraldry of family Ruybal so the Ruybal or they are Galician or linked in some of their branches to Galicia.

One of the most distinctive qualities of heraldry is the use of a limited palette of colours and patterns, usually referred to as tinctures. These are divided into three categories, known as metals, colours, and furs.

Next we are going to see the meanings of three tinctures:

1) GULES: Red color that symbolizes Strength, Victory, Daring and Highness.

2) OR (Gold): Nobility, Magnanimity, Wealth, Power, Light, Constancy and Wisdom.

3) AZURE: Blue color that symbolizes Justice, Zeal, Truth, Loyalty, Charity and Beauty.

Next lets look at the characteristics of some figures that we can find in heraldry and crests:

* APPLE: The Apple Tree symbolizes the Watchful Heart.

* EYE: The Eye is a symbol of Ingenuity and Capacity, if both are painted it symbolizes Vigilance and Care.

* SWAN: The Swan, by the tradition that he sings sweetly when he is about to die, means Ancient Nobility, without stain of any kind, who dies courageously executing glorious undertakings.

* THISTLE: The Thistle symbolizes in Heraldry a heart nobly humble, but so careful of its honor, that it defends with its sword the luster of its lineage.

* BRIDGE: The Bridge symbolizes Alliance and Union.

* MARTLET: The Martlets mean the number of defeated enemies and are the distinctive mark of the fourth son.

* TOWER: The Tower represents the Generosity with which the Knight offers himself at the service of his Country and his King.

* LAUREL: The Laurel is a symbol of Good Fame, and due to the perpetual greenness of its leaves, of Imperecedera Victoria.
