The work "Linajes y Blasones de Galicia", by Father Crespo, where the heraldry and the history of the family name Santas appears, is the most important treatise of the heraldry of Galicia (Spain), and was published three hundred years after the appearance of the posthumous "Nobiliario, Armas y Triunfos de Galicia", by Father Felipe de la Gandara. Its author Father Crespo Pozo, had for his investigations, vigils and costly walks that were rewarded with the kind collaboration of Nobles as the Dukes of Medinaceli facilitating the archive of the Grand Casa Marquesal de Camarasa, etc. All this resulted in a plurality of sources of consultation that make the scholarly work, encyclopedic and illustrative in Galician heraldry. This work collects, as we have already said, the history and heraldry of family Santas so the Santas or they are Galician or linked in some of their branches to Galicia.

One of the most distinctive qualities of heraldry is the use of a limited palette of colours and patterns, usually referred to as tinctures. These are divided into three categories, known as metals, colours, and furs.

Next we are going to see the meanings of three tinctures:

1) PURPLE: Justice, Wit, Truth, Greatness, Wisdom and Love; those who wear this color are obliged to defend the Prince defending ecclesiastical people.

2) SABLE: Black color that symbolizes Prudence, Sadness, Rigor, Honesty and Obedience.

3) AZURE: Blue color that symbolizes Justice, Zeal, Truth, Loyalty, Charity and Beauty.

Next lets look at the characteristics of some figures that we can find in heraldry and crests:

* PEACOCK: The Peacock, by its head denotes Prudence; for his chest, of gold and sapphire, Loyalty, Fidelity and Zeal; in the hidden and submissive of his steps, Secret, and in the terribly out of tune voice of his singing, Terror of enemies.

* CINQUEFOIL: The Cinquefoils symbolize Hope and Joy.

* BULL: The Bull symbolizes Generous Chest, in whom the memories of his lineage, represented in the red of his blood, inflame the desire for great enterprises.

* ROOK: The Rooks symbolize the Captain who defends his fortress.

* ERMINE: The Ermines symbolize Purity and Fidelity placed at the service of the Prince.

* NETTLE: The Nettle symbolizes Affliction.

* CABRIO: The Cabrio symbolizes the boots and spurs, and for this reason it was granted as an adornment of the shield to the Knight who was wounded from the combat in his legs.
